Deckard Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

This is the Privacy Policy of Deckard, a companion app for Diablo IV made by Synica ("Synica", "we", "us" or "our"), Verbeetenstraat 69B, 4812 XJ Breda, the Netherlands, registered with the Chamber of Commerce under number 81558643. Synica is responsible for the personal data described here and processes it in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Synica's website has its own privacy policy at synica.nl/privacy-policy.

Deckard is not made, endorsed or supported by Blizzard Entertainment.

What stays on your computer

  • The game screen. Deckard reads item tooltips and the zone name from the Diablo IV window, on your computer, using Windows' built-in text recognition. Screenshots are never sent anywhere.
  • Your builds, quick searches and settings. Kept in a folder for your account on your computer. When you load a build, Deckard downloads it from maxroll.gg.
  • Your session. Kept in Windows' Credential Locker, so you stay signed in.

What Deckard's trade server keeps, and why

Your account. Your Battle.net account ID and BattleTag, from signing in with Battle.net. We never see your e-mail address or password. We use them to know who you are; if you change your BattleTag, your listings stay yours. Basis: providing the service you signed up for (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).

Your trades. Your listings (the item's type, name, item power, affixes, aspect, price and realm), offers, counter-offers, accepted deals, buy orders and the price a listing sold for. We use them to run the market. Past sale prices appear in price checks and price history without saying who sold or bought. Basis: providing the service.

Your trading record. Whether each side marked a deal completed, and the text of any report about a deal. Your record is shown to the players you trade with, and reports are used for moderation. Basis: our legitimate interest in a safe market (art. 6(1)(f)).

Players you block. So that you and they no longer see each other. Basis: providing the service.

Whether you are in game. Only if you turn on "Show me as in game" or location sharing in Settings: whether Diablo IV is running and when you were last seen, shown to other traders as "in game". Basis: providing the feature you turned on; turn it off in Settings at any time.

Your in-game zone. Only if you turn on location sharing: the name of the zone Diablo IV shows (for example "Kyovashad"), shown only to the player whose offer you accepted, and only while that deal is open, so you can meet in game. We keep only your latest zone, for 10 minutes. This is your location in the game, never your real-world location. Basis: providing the feature you turned on.

Your Patreon link. Only if you link Patreon: your Patreon user ID, whether you are an active patron of Deckard's campaign, whether your tier includes early access to new versions of the app, and when we last checked. It lifts app limits for supporters and never gives an advantage in the market. We never see your name, e-mail address or payment details. Basis: providing the service.

Your name in the credits. Only if you are a patron and choose to be named: the name you enter is shown in Deckard's credits to every signed-in player while you are a patron. Turn it off in Settings at any time; unlinking Patreon removes it. Basis: your consent (art. 6(1)(a)).

IP addresses. Used briefly, in memory, to limit how many requests one player can make, and kept in our hosting provider's logs. Basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service available.

Your BattleTag is shown to another player only when one of you accepts the other's offer, so you can add each other in game. Search results and buy orders never show it.

Deckard never handles real money: trades are priced in gold and completed by hand in the game.

Who else processes your data

  • Blizzard Entertainment, for Battle.net sign-in, under Blizzard's own privacy policy.
  • Patreon, if you link it, under Patreon's own privacy policy.
  • Microsoft Azure, which hosts the trade server and its database in the Netherlands (West Europe region).
  • maxroll.gg, when Deckard downloads a build you asked for.

We do not rent or sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

International transfer

The trade server and its data are in the Netherlands. If you use Deckard from elsewhere, your data is transferred there.

Legal requests and preventing harm

We may keep and share data when the law requires it, for example because of a court order, or when it is needed to detect and stop fraud or other abuse of the market, such as reported scams. Data involved in such a request or investigation may be kept longer than the periods below.

Security

The trade server is reached only over encrypted connections, every request needs a signed-in player, and secrets such as passwords are kept out of the code. No system is perfectly secure; if you find a problem, please tell us at info@synica.nl.

Change of control

If Synica or Deckard is sold or transferred, your data may be transferred with it. The new owner must keep the commitments in this policy.

How long we keep your data

  • Your in-game zone: 10 minutes.
  • Listings, offers, deals, buy orders and reports: 12 months after the listing, deal or buy order ends. Open deals are kept until they end.
  • Your account and Patreon link: until you ask us to delete your account, or you unlink Patreon in Settings.
  • Your name in the credits: until you turn it off or unlink Patreon.

Your rights

You can ask us to show, correct, export or delete your data, and to restrict or stop using it, by e-mailing info@synica.nl. Unlinking Patreon in Settings removes the Patreon link at once. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).

Children

Deckard is not meant for anyone under 13, and you need a Battle.net account under Blizzard's terms to use it. We do not knowingly keep data about children under 13. If you know a child has used Deckard, please contact us and we will remove their data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The new version is published here with its date, and important changes are also announced in the app.
